Chief Technology Officer

VIA SMS Group is an alternative financial services company with operations in Asia-Pacific and Europe. In addition to operations in four countries, the Group has developed into a flexible fintech company that offers easy-to-understand financial solutions under a variety of brand names. One such brand is VIAINVEST, an investment brokerage firm under the supervision of Latvijas Banka that provides private investors with lucrative opportunities to invest in securities backed by loans from non-banking lenders for consumers and businesses. The company’s headquarters are in Riga, Latvia.

We are looking for a passionate, result-driven Chief Technology Officer to join our professional IT Team within the company.

As the Chief Technology Officer, you will be a key member of our executive team, responsible for shaping and executing our company’s technology vision and strategy. You will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, managing our technical teams, and ensuring the successful development and implementation of technology solutions that align with our business goals.

What you will do:

• Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
• Take care of technology strategies to ensure business continuity
• Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
• Build quality assurance and data protection processes
• Present reports on the company’s technology status, goals and or progress
• Identify what technologies can be used to improve the company’s products and services
• Manage the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch
• Implement best practices for data management, security, and compliance
• Identify and mitigate technology-related risks and vulnerabilities
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
• Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing technology team, including software developers, engineers, and other technical specialists
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the technology department
• Create and oversee high-level KPIs as well as mentorship and guidance for the IT department
• Evaluate and select technology vendors, partners, and tools
• Manage the department’s budget

Your experience:

• Proven experience in technology leadership roles, with a track record of successful technology strategy development and execution
• Strong business understanding and the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
• Excellent communication skills (Latvian and English languages), both written and verbal
• Strong leadership, team-building, and people management skills
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends
• Experience in project and budget management
• Strategic thinking
• Problem-solving aptitude
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
