Compliance Officer

We are looking for a new colleague to join our friendly team and fill the COMPLIANCE OFFICER with a Legal Background position within our Legal Department.

Your main responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and manage various legal projects and daily issues related to compliance matters across VIA SMS group and its daughter companies
• Develop and improve AML and compliance processes and internal procedures across VIA SMS group and its daughter companies
• Assist VIA SMS group daughter companies’ country managers in maintaining internal AML and compliance policies and procedures
• Work with the regulatory requirements of multiple geographies, especially Europe and Asia
• Prepare, review, and perform customer and daughter companies onboarding (due diligence document collection and verification, customer screening) and ongoing monitoring
• Prepare and analyse legal documents as well as conduct legal research if required to ensure the company’s compliance
• Prepare legal memos, reports, and action plans as well as monitor their execution
• Ensure third parties inquires processing related to AML issues
• Ensure VIA SMS group’s counterparties due diligence process
• Monitor, analyze, and summarize information regarding the newest legal issues and developments in Latvia as well as the EU which could affect the company’s and its daughter companies’ operations and general business environment. Additionally, ensure the implementation of legislative changes in business operations
• Advise the company’s management and colleagues on various legal issues upon request

We expect:

• A Master’s degree in law
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a Legal, Compliance or AML related position. Previous work experience in a financial institution or fintech company will be considered an advantage
• Excellent English and Latvian language skills (both in written and verbal communication)
• Excellent communication skills, proactive personality, accuracy, and care for quality of work
• Ability to operate calmly in a dynamic working environment and hands on approach
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities for individual work and deadlines
• Ability to identify legal and compliance risks and seek for optimal and effective solutions
